Interviews: Bruckheimer, Verbinski and Writers Confirm Keith Richards Appearance in Pirates of the Caribbean 3!

Press day for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest was held this weekend in Beverly Hills. The IESB was there to get the lo-down! Keith Richards appearing as Capt. Jack Sparrow's father has been a rumor floating around the internet for some time. So, when we had the opportunity we took it! We asked everyone!

Jerry Bruckheimer, action movie guru producer, said this about Keith Richards, "I think we worked out some dates, as long as he doesn't fall out of any more trees..."

Writers Ted Elliot and Terry Rossio had this to say on the subject, "Keith Richards was never intended to be in Pirates 2. He is supposed to be in 3. Johnny wanted him in but there was just no room in the story in 2. But there is in 3. According to the press, he's in he's out he's in he's out, I honestly think people made that up." Will he portray Jack's Dad? "We are not going to confirm that, that's indeterminate. We want to protect the story until the audience sees it. That gives ourselves room to make improvements."

Director Gore Verbinski say the following regarding Richards being Jack Sparrow's father, "I don't want to give it away but he will be in the third. We haven't filmed the Keith Richard part yet." Will he be his father? "I don't want to give anything away, it's open to interpretation."

So there you have it, straight from the horses mouths, Keith Richards will make an appearance in the third Pirates. Also, Bruckheimer said they have been throwing around subtitle names for the third installment, "At World's End" was one but they are a long way off from deciding.

Stay tuned to the IESB for further updates!
