The 2007 Golden Globe winner for Best TV Drama and multiple Emmy nominee, including Outstanding Drama Series for the past two years comes to DVD with Grey's Anatomy the Complete Fifth Season More Moments. On the heels of the sixth season premiere in the coming weeks, the doctors of Seattle Grace Hospital deal with life-or-death consequences on a daily basis - it's in one another that they find comfort, friendship and love. Together they're discovering that neither medicine nor relationships can be defined in black and white. Real life only comes in shades of grey. Now continuing their first year as residents at Seattle Grace Hospital, Meredith, Cristina Yang, Izzie Stevens and Alex Karev have interns of their own to mentor, including Meredith's half-sister, Lexie Grey.
The season gets off to a slow start, but series creator and still writer Shonda Rhimes unveils story arcs that have the surgeons' operating room dramas intersecting with the characters' private lives with sometimes heart wrenching results. Is "happily ever after" possible for Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and "McDreamy" Derek (Patrick Dempsey)? With Meredith experiencing a breakthrough in therapy making the realization that she and Derek can be extraordinary together, rather than ordinary apart. Now she and Derek now face the highs and lows of being a committed couple. Lexie (Chyler Leigh) has become a roommate and confidante to George (T.R. Knight), who, after divorce with Callie (Sara Ramirez), a breakup with Izzie (Katherine Heigl), and learning that he failed his residency test by only one point, is striving to get both his professional and personal life back on track. After attending to his girlfriend Rebecca's mental illness on his own, and revealing that he had gone through this with his own mother, Alex (Justin Chambers) finds solace in Izzie's arms. Alex must continue through this difficult time, whether or not Izzie remains by his side all the while Izzie must now battle her own past and hope it does not destroy her present. Cristina (Sandra Oh), having finally won out over her tough-as-nails mentor, Erica, is back on track as a surgeon - but is there a chance for new love in her life as well? With the encouragement of "McSteamy" Mark (Eric Dane), Callie has taken a chance on love with cardiothoracic surgeon, Erica Hahn (Brooke Smith); now, she and Erica must figure out if they even have something. Overseeing the residents is the no-nonsense Chief Resident, Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson). Facing marital troubles and the difficulty of balancing her work and personal life, Bailey has handed her responsibilities as head of the free clinic over to Izzie. Also striving for balance is Chief of Surgery, Richard Webber (James Pickens, Jr.), who has reunited with his estranged wife, Adele. Wow that seems like a hell of a lot to cram into one season... and that's just the highlights not to mention they hit their 100th episode this seasond. To top it all off we get a whole lot of awesome new guest stars and hopeful replacements for the poor unforetunates that keep getting fired or leave the show. This was definetly an awesome season. The season finale is among the show's best ever, with the fate of two beloved characters left unknown and laden with sorrow. Now lets see what they have in store for us this upcoming season, speaking of which the 2-hour season premiere airs Thursday september 24th 9/8c. The verdict: I gotta say as much flack as I may catch from my guy griends,Grey's Anatomy the Complete Fifth Season More Moments is definetly worth it especially if you are a fan.
