From Jerry Seinfeld comes "Bee Movie," a comedy that will change everything you thought you knew about bees. Taking a closer look at their world through the eyes of one bee in particular -- Barry B. Benson (Jerry Seinfeld).

{sidebar id=1}A recent college graduate, Barry wants more out of life than the inevitable career that awaits him and every other worker in New Hive City -- a job at Honex.making honey. Barry jumps at the chance to venture out of the hive, and soon encounters a world beyond his wildest dreams.

When Barry inadvertently meets a quirky human florist named Vanessa (Rene Zellweger), he breaks one of the cardinal rules of beedom - he talks to her. A friendship soon develops, and Barry gets a guided crash course in the ways of the human race. When he shockingly discovers that anyone can purchase honey right off the grocery store shelf, he realizes that his true calling is to stop this injustice and set the world right by suing the human race for stealing the bees' precious honey.

Now to be honest, when I first heard of this film being done I was not eagerly looking forward to watching it.  I mean, really, a film about bees?!  Hasn't National Geographic already done this one?  Zzzzzz!

Boy, was I wrong!  I neglected to really pay attention to who was going to be involved in it, not that that always matters but sometimes there are surprises. OKAY, I was surpised!

I found it to be funny, intelligent, creative, and to have something even more rare...a good story.

I feel in this age of computer animation there is a strong effort to outdo the last computer animated film with visuals you have yet to see and with the mentality of how cool it will look in a theatre yet not give much thought to why we are even in the theatre watching it.  Don't get me wrong, I love cool visual effects!  I am just afraid we tend to get lost in them and don't use them to enhance the overall story-telling experience.  It's one of the things that will separate BEE MOVIE from the others.

I also forgot just how smart Seinfeld is.  It has been almost 10 years since his television show ended. The writing is just as sharp if not sharper, it never wanders and is always very entertaining.  The computer animation itself is not the glue that holds this film together, though there are some great moments where they truly capitalize on this fairly new art form but more in the humorous way that the story is told.

If you're looking for something to take the kids to and be able to enjoy yourself, you just lucked out as this is your best ticket.  I am giving it a 10!  You just can't go wrong with this film and you'll probably find yourself wanting to watch it again.

Don't go in thinking it's just another BEE MOVIE, because it's not.
It's funnier!
