Another top-secret screenplay review has been passed along thanks to IESB reader Sealcrab. This time its the live-action adaptation of Jonny Quest and it sounds like the emphasis is on the word action.
{sidebar id=1}Sealcrab back again with a look at the first draft of the latest cartoon on its way to the big screen: Hanna Barberas Jonny Quest! This draft is just-barely pre-strike, clocking in at 10/31/2007 and is written by one Dan Mazeau whose only other credit is an in-development screenplay called Land of Lost Things.
Now before you even get your spoiler warning, Im telling you right off the bat: The star of this film isnt Jonny Quest. Not by a long shot. This film is all about the roughest, toughest action hero to ever hit the TV screen: Race Bannon.
With his trademark red shirt and white hair, he was like unto an astronaut. Back when being an astronaut meant something.
This is the one bit of casting they just cant skimp on. They need a clean-cut but macho kind of charm while still managing to convince us that he can kick a pretty sizeable amount of ass. If theyre not thinking George Clooney or Daniel Craig, theyre aiming in the wrong direction.
