The IESB brings you an update on a
possible big screen adaptation of our beloved OG sci-fi hero Buck
Rogers!
{sidebar id=1}A few months ago Stax over at IGN
posted the news that Frank Miller would be directing Buck Rogers for
Nu Image/Millennium Films.
After his original post, Stax was
contacted by Nu Image/Millennium
Films who advised him that no deal is set yet for the rights or
Miller, and that they are still mulling over director contenders.
Could that have
changed in the last few months? You betcha!
IESB's Robert
Sanchez was on hand at last weeks Spike TV Scream 2008 Awards and
spoke with The Spirit producer Deborah Del Prete. They spoke at
length on what we can expect to see in the big screen adaptation of
Will Eisner's The Spirit plus plans for sequels and what Frank Miller
will be working on next.
A surprising part
was when Del Prete made a reference to an old school sci-fi hero that
Frank Miller would be bringing back to the big screen soon.
Sanchez
immediately countered asking if it was Flash Gordon or Buck Rogers.
She said she couldn't eloborate and that Frank would be making an
announcement soon.
IESB quickly
followed up with sources very close to the Miller camp who confirmed
the sci-fi hero that Del Prete made a reference to was indeed BUCK ROGERS, so Stax's original scoop was correct, according to our sources, Miller will be doing Buck Rogers.
The IESB has
placed a call to Nu Image/Millennium Films for comment and are
awaiting a response at the time of this posting.
