The on-again off-again super heroine feature film may be picking up speed over at Warner Bros.
{sidebar id=1}This week has been chalked full of
Wonder Woman news.
First Beyonce threw her hat into the
ring to play the Amazonian Princess then a fan site pushed for Megan
Fox to take the role.
But, I received some interesting Wonder
Woman news today, and it's not about the woman filling the boots. I
got a very intriguing message from a source at WB Burbank.
Apparently, a particular director's
name is being floated to helm the long gestating DC Comics/WB
adaptation of Wonder Woman.
Who you ask? None other than Joseph
McGinty Nichol. That's right, Mc to the fucking G.
Let me be very clear about this, I
don't know if he has been signed on or if his is just one of the
names being circulated by the studio or if in fact it's McG himself
lobbying for the gig. Could be any of the three.
I double checked with a few other
industry insiders and after a few phone calls they confirmed of
hearing his name circling Wonder Woman as well.
It would make sense. McG has had a
hard-on to do a comic book movie for a while. Remember he was set to
direct Superman until some last minute problems. He also wanted to do
the DC/Vertigo's Losers for some time but WB handed it over to Tim
Story and last week announced that Sylvian White would in fact be
bringing them to the big screen.
With McG currently hard at work on
another big Warner Bros. film, Terminator: Salvation with Christian
Bale, it looks like the studio is extremely happy with the results.
It would make some sense to give him
shot to bring her to life. As long they don't have Beyonce Knowles
playing Princess Diana, I'm open to anything.
This being the weekend, I couldn't call
any talent reps or the studio to confirm or deny. I will be doing
that tomorrow so stay tuned for updates on Wonder Woman!
