IESB attended the press day for STAR TREK in Beverly Hills today and made sure to ask Leonard Nimoy about voicing a robot in TRANSFOMERS REVENGE OF THE FALLEN.

{sidebar id=1}Unfortunately, out exclusive video interviews are under embargo until May 7th, but I've done my best to paraphrase what Nimoy said about TF2.

Last week, TF2 director Michael Bay said he was intimidated to ask his cousin's husband to voice a robot in the sequel because of the low salary he had allotted. The cousin's husband being Leonard Nimoy who voiced a few characters in the original Transformers cartoon back in the '80s.

[Nimoy] is married to Susan Bay, whos a cousin to me, Michael explained, saying that hes afraid of insulting his relative with the mere pittance allotted to pay his voice actors. I just feel kind of bad about asking him. Like I cant pay you that much? But would you do this voice?

Although we can't post what was said about TREK, we can talk about TF2.

I am paraphrasing our conversation. Nimoy was in a great mood, laughing and having a good time and said he would be perfectly willing to do a voice in the Transformers sequel, all Michael has to do is ask - but has he?

IESB asked Nimoy straight out if Michael Bay has contacted him yet regarding the voice work, Bay has said he may use his mother as a go between if need be.

Nimoy said he had just seen Bay's mother and she didn't say anything. He doesn't think she wants to be the go between. Nimoy said that he's not hard to get ahold of, if Michael wants to get ahold of him, he can.

STAR TREK opens in theaters May 8.
TRANSFORMERS REVENGE OF THE FALLEN opens in theaters June 24.
