During the world premiere of Garden State that took place in Los Angeles a few weeks ago the IESB had the chance to talk to Ian Holm who is very well known in the Tolkien universe as Bilbo Baggins. We asked him about his overall experience with LOTR and how he feels about the worldwide fandom."Its incredible but you know the Lord of the Rings phenomenon has been going on for decades", he tells the IESB.

Ian Holm is no stranger to blockbuster success with over 100 credited films under his belt. He has two films that were released earlier this year, Garden State and The Day After Tomorrow. The Aviator and Strangers with Candy will be released later this year.

When IESB asked if he would be willing to return to the big screens and reprise his role of Bilbo Baggins, "That would be fantastic, there has been talk about doing the Hobbit and I know that Peter would love to do it but there are some legal issues with two studios but once they get that handled I would love go back and do it, but that will be a few years from now, you know Peter is working on King Kong."

Even though Ian would like to reprise his role of Bilbo there is no word when MGM and New Line will work out the legal issues that involve the rights and distribution of the film. If too much time passes by Ian may no longer fit the role of a younger Hobbit. Unless the lawyers get to work and have something that Peter could work with right after he is done with Kong.

Stay tuned to the IESB for Hobbit news.
