Producer Tom Rosenberg, who is working on the Aeon Flux movie, told IESB.net that he’s just getting started. “It’s going well. I think Karyn Kusama is a really talented director. It’s going to be a cool film.”

Charlize Theron plays the title character, her very first bona fide action hero role. Rosenberg was confident in her abilities without having seen her kick major ass on screen before. “She has to be a leader, she has to be imposing in some way. And I think she has a certain fierceness to her. She has a physical presence that I think the character needed. Her acting ability is certainly there, which I think a lot of times, we try to do a genre movie with good actors in them. Like I think Kate Beckinsdale’s a great actress in Underworld. So she had those qualities and she was going to win the Academy Award, that’s not bad.”

Rosenberg lucked out casting Theron just before her big win. “Three or four days before. But I thought that was a given.”

With all the major comic book/superhero properties being turned into films, Rosenberg actually prefers working on one of the lesser well known ones. “I actually would have preferred if it wasn’t known at all. The only risk that you have here is that it’s a small following, but they’re very intense. You don’t want to piss them off. You want to keep them excited about it and that was the tricky thing about it. No, I would have preferred that they had no following.”
