Star Wars in the late 80's and early 90's was something that was almost forgotten by non-fans and was taking a back seat by moderate fans. Even some hardcore fans had begun watching and reading other sci-fi franchises to keep up with their fix of science fiction. For the most part Star Wars was on life support and near death.
That all changed during the summer of 1991 with the release of Heir to the Empire by author Timothy Zahn. I remember shopping at the mall one day and walking into a book store and having something catch the corner of my eye. I turned around and saw a cover that was screaming out to me, Star Wars.

I remember picking up the book as my hands were shaking and flipping thru it. My mind was racing at 1000 miles per minute. I ran to the cashier and started asking tons of questions, is there any more books available? Was this a novelization to a new movie? When did this book come out? The cashier must of thought that I was out of my mind, which at that point I was. I remember trying to read this book as I walked to my car and then trying to read it on my way home. I cancelled my plans and didn't go to work for next two days and was able to read it in less then 48 hours. Star Wars was back.
Timothy completed his first three books which is now known as the Zahn Trilogy and helped kick start the second coming of Star Wars.
Timothy was one of the VIP guests at C3 this past weekend. He was kind enough to give us a 10 minute video interview in where amongst many other things he shares with us his thoughts on the possibility of having one of his novels made as a TV series and his reaction to the special footage from Revenge of the Sith that was shown to the fans.
