Ever since the re-launch of Star Wars merchandise in the late 90's Lego has been at the front of innovation and creativity. Now they take the next step, Star War Lego Video Game. What is it? How do you play the game? What characters can you play?

Our in house video game expert had the chance to have a few questions answered by the creative team behind Star Wars Lego.

1)Tell us a little about, Lego Star Wars.
We’re really excited to be working on it – bringing, we hope, a really fresh view to our favorite characters, and the stories of Episodes I, II and III.
2)Is Lucasfilm giving you rough footage from the Revenge of the Sith to create the Episode III parts of the game?
Yes, we’re privileged to be working closely with Lucasfilm.
3) Is there co-op mode?
We are extremely proud of the “drop-in/drop-out” 2-player feature of LEGO Star Wars. This means that, at *any* point in the game, a second player can join in the action; and two players play together. There are always at least two playable characters in any scene. When playing on your own, you can “tag” another playable character to take direct control of them, manually. When not controlled by a human player, all characters will fight and adventure alongside you under AI control. It works really well, and it’s just such great fun to play along with a friend.
4)Can players play co-op over the internet?
No online, you’ll need to be in the same room as your co-player.
5)What characters can players play as?
One of the coolest things about the game is that you’ll get to be *all* the characters from Episode I, II and III – both good guys and bad guys; major and minor. (OK, not *every single one* - but more than 40…)
6 )Can you tell us about the cinematics that are shown in the game?
We have many cinematic sequences in the game, to help tell the whole story of Star Wars Episodes I, III and III – all with a unique LEGO attitude. Technically, yes, we’ll be rendering them in-game – and I can assure you that they look *superb*. We have some fantastic animators working to create some hugely entertaining action: spectacular, mischievous and dramatic.
7)Who is doing the music for the game?
We will make use of authentic Star Wars music.
