We were all quite surprised when Ewan "Obi-Wan" McGregor showed up for the premiere of Closer starring his good friend Natalie Portman. Unfortunately Ewan did not stop for the press or even pose for the photographers, even though we were able to snap a few pictures of him walking in to the screening.

After the arrivals ended I was asked if I wanted to go to the "after party" over at Spagos. On normal circumstances I would obviously jump to the opurtunity to mingle with celebs and VIP's but I had prior engagements that I could not miss even for Obi-Wan and Queen Amidala.

To my surprise our "friend" that invited us to the after party send us in this e-mail in where she recounts a conversation that she had with McGregor at Spagos:

Hey Robert

You really screwed up by not going to the Closer premiere after party, food wasn't great , typical yuppie celebrity atmosphere but Ewan showed up, he looked great! Ewan and Natalie spoke and mingled for a while and Ewan and Clive also had a drink together. I was a bit nervous about going up to Natalie and talking to her, she had a good size entourage. Ewan in the other hand was talking it up with plenty of people so I walk up to him and told him that I was a big fan and that I was really looking forward in seeing him in his upcoming movie The Island. He mentioned that the Island is a great atmosphere and that he is totally captivated by Scarlett Johansson acting abilities and beauty. He also mentioned that this film has such a large talented ensemble cast that he feels quite excited to be working with Michael Bay.

Of course I had to ask if he has seen any footage from Revenge of the Sith, he mentioned that he likes seeing his film when they are totally completed and not any other way. He did see the trailer and was quite happy in the way it looked, he joked "I don't remember being around any Volcanoes." I asked him if he thought that this last Star Wars film will redeem any short falls that Episode 1 and 2 might have. "You have to see these films as one big story, the first sets up the second and the second one sets up the third. The third film is by far the most challenging, Hayden and I go at each other for a such bloody long time but of course I win", smiles McGregor. When asked if he regrets being involved with Star Wars McGregor states: " Absolutely not, this has been a fun ride and I have met plenty of good friends but like any ride it has to end." I was able to ask one last question which of course was about James Bond, would he be interested in doing a 007 film? He answered by looking at me and asking "Are you working for Aint it Cool news or something? If you are going to post it on the web then of course I would love to be Bond but if you really want to know the truth .......I won't say, I love rumors."
