04/23/03 Jedibob- Chewbacca is back!!! Just
got this off the official site, take a peak: "Episode
III will further connect the Star Wars saga, bridging the prequel trilogy
to the original trilogy in new and surprising ways. As such, familiar
faces and places will return in this new Star Wars film, which is currently
in pre-production. Reprising their classic roles from the original trilogy
are actors Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker. They return
to Star Wars as Chewbacca the Wookiee, C-3PO and R2-D2. "I'm delighted
to return as Chewbacca," says Mayhew. "I think his re-appearance
in this film is a fitting way to tie the whole saga together, especially
for Wookiee fans." Given that Chewbacca is a sprightly 200 years
old in Episode IV, he is more than old enough to fit into the prequel
timeline. Daniels has played See-Threepio in all of the Star Wars movies.
In the original trilogy, he squeezed into the tight confines of the golden
suit to play the prim and proper protocol droid. For Episode I, he leant
his vocal talents for an incomplete version of Threepio that was realized
as a puppet. In Episode II, he returned to the costume, donning an earlier
and less polished iteration of the droid's familiar form. Though the role
of R2-D2 has become increasingly automated since the very start, it's
been a Star Wars tradition to include Kenny Baker as the heroic astromech
droid at some point in the movie. Baker was essential to the early Artoo
seen in A New Hope, when limitations in remote control and computer technology
required a person beneath the dome to bring Artoo to life. Having Baker
inside the suit has brought "an element of humanity" to the
classic character, Director George Lucas has said."

04/18/03 Jedibob- The first draft of the
Episode III script will be ready next week!!! The
official Star Wars Homing Beacon newsletter included an interview with
Star Wars: Episode III producer Rick McCallum in which he talks about
the script. "We get our preliminary first draft of the script next
week, which we're very excited about," says McCallum, who is currently
overseeing the preparation of Fox Studios in Sydney, Australia. In just
over two months, the stages of the motion picture facility will be the
used for shooting "Episode III". "We're
currently on schedule to begin on or around June 30, finishing some time
in September," says McCallum. Already, the crew down under has enough
information from George Lucas to begin construction of environments, props
and costumes. "After
that George will be rewriting to a more formal first draft and will keep
revising right up until the start of shooting," adds McCallum. "The
story he wants to tell is firmly in his head. All the details are stored
away in there, without a lot of influence from anyone else. He's been

03/29/03 Jedibob- Tidbits on Episode III.
TFN
has posted some interesting info on Episode III. Here you go: The Directors
- The Films Of George Lucas (Encore) - Francis Ford Coppola, Carrie Fisher,
and just about every living actor from American Graffitti turn out to
pay tribute to Lord Lucas, but the best news out of this retrospective
comes from the director himself, talking about his vision for the upcoming
Episode III. "It's a darker version of Star Wars," says Lucas.
"It's not as dark as a Quentin Tarantino movie, but at the same time,
for Star Wars it will be pretty dark." Meesa freakin' hope so. Here
are a few highlights from Star Wars Insider #67 about Episode III: - There
will be a cameo by a classic trilogy character in Episode III. - The first
outline of Episode III was set to be delivered February 21st. - As of
this writing, Lucas had approved 2,000 pieces of concept artwork. A total
of 10,000 are expected to be produced. - Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor
will arrive four or five weeks before shooting to start training with
Nick Gillard.

03/28/03 Jedibob- Is Ratner hoping to be
involved in Episode III? I
just had a e-mail from a source very close to Lucasfilm, very close. A
rumor has started circulating that Brett Ratner might be interested in
being involved in some capacity on Episode III. No word if its a unit
director or maybe even full blown Director. If these rumors are true it
would almost make sense that he left Superman and has yet not committed
on a new project. With Star Wars starting production this summer it would
mean that we should hear something from the Ratner/ Lucasfilm camps if
there is any truth to these rumors. If anyone hears anything concrete
on this please email

Although
this news should come as no surprise to fans of this particular Star Wars
game series, the latest "Enter the Matrix" issue of Electronic

making by LucasArts and developer Factor 5. In addition to this juicy
tidbit, Rogue Squadron III will be the leading subject of next month's

revealed. Readers should seek out the new issue soon and look forward

03/11/03 Jedibob- The sets
are going up...work on Episode III has begun!!! Crews have begun
rebuilding classic Star Wars sets for George Lucas' upcoming Episode III,
which starts production this summer, the official Web site reported. "We've
been in Sydney for about four weeks now, and the department is about 50
percent up and running in terms of personnel," production designer
Gavin Bocquet told the site. About 35 workers have come together in departments
such as construction, props, special effects and plaster, he added. To
meet the schedule, Bocquet's team has tackled the returning environments
first in lieu of new locales, which are still being developed, the site
reported. "We do have four or five sets that are being repeated from
[Star Wars: Episode II—Attack of the Clones] and a couple of the
other episodes, which gives us a chance to work quite quickly on those,"
Bocquet said. "They don't need any great design input or even technical
drawings, because they have existed before."Those sets include the
Jedi Council chambers, the Senate Rotunda and Palpatine's office. The
crew will also recreate two sets from the original Star Wars trilogy,
the site reported. One is space-based and the other is planet-based, and
each will be the stage for intricate action sequences

03/04/03 Jedibob - I was going thru some
conceptual art work from Ralph McQuarrie and I found a very interesting
picture that might spark some interest. This picture is of Vader turning
over Luke to the Emperor and was one of the many ideas that were being
kicked around during pre-production of ROTJ. With all the talk of lava
and volcanoes for Episode III and the fact that George loves to rehash
old ideas in to the prequels I thought I would share this picture with
you guys. Tell me what you think and email

truth is that you don't have to be a Star Wars fan to enjoy this great

27- Feb-2003 Jedibob- Is Lou Ferrigno going
to don Vaders armor in Episode III?
According to Coronas Coming Attraction that might just be the case. They
received an e-mail with a very interesting rumor, this is just a rumor
so don't get your panties in a bunch. I don't believe this rumor because
Lou does not have the right body type. Here it goes : "I work
in a job for the largest telecommunications company, and recieved a call
from the wife of one L FERRIGNO. I was helping her with her bill, and
made small talk about Mr. Ferigno making a cameo in Hulk movie (old news),
she informed me that he was in talks with George Lucas to possibly be
the body for Vader. She wasn't sure if it would work out,but they spent
two weeks with Lucas in England over the holidays last year. She said
that you wouldn't see him as the face, but he wanted to double the body."

20-Feb-2003 Jedibob- Jar-Jar Binks will not
die in Episode III. According
to LOK magazine from the U.K. during an interview they had with George
(p.25) they asked him what he had in store for Jar-Jar and if our favorite
Gungan would die. The reporter even reminded him that Jar-Jar is not in
the original trilogy. George responded by telling him that he created
this character to help with the flow of the story and that he would not
kill him at the end. He stated that Jar-Jar would not die on the big screen
or die at all. We can always hope that this is not accurate, Jar-Jar binks

20-Feb-2003 Jedibob- Its official, The Clone
Wars cartoon shorts on the Cartoon Network. 20 Animated
"Clone Wars' Serial Shorts to Appear on Cartoon Network in 2003-2004.
ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 20, 2003--Cartoon Network and Lucasfilm
Ltd. announced today a partnership to create Star Wars: Clone Wars, a
series of 20 animated shorts that will air on Cartoon Network in 2003-2004
between other programming. Star Wars: Clone Wars continues the saga where
the live action feature film Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones
left off - at the beginning of the Clone Wars, an epic civil war that
pits the old Republic against a vast separatist movement led by the forces
of evil. Each episodic short will be two- to three-minutes in length and
will air exclusively on Cartoon Network at regularly scheduled times during
the network's regular programming beginning later this fall. Clone Wars
will be produced at Cartoon Network Studios by a team led by Genndy Tartakovsky,
the creator of Samurai Jack and Dexter's Laboratory. As Clone Wars unfolds
the valiant Jedi Knights lead the Republic's Clone Army against many new
and ruthless adversaries across the galaxy. These new characters, epic
battles and intricate stories will add an exciting new dimension to the
Star Wars saga. "We are incredibly excited to be working with Lucasfilm
in creating an animated story that extends one of the world's most beloved
entertainment properties," said Sam Register, senior vice president
of development for Cartoon Network. "Cartoon Network's creative team
will work hand-in-hand with Lucasfilm to make sure that our common vision
for Clone Wars thrills Star Wars fans around the world." "Genndy
Tartakovsky and the team at Cartoon Network are tops in their field,"
said Howard Roffman, president of Lucas Licensing. "Their work on
Samurai Jack shows that they can tell an epic story in a unique way, lavishing
equal attention on dramatic battle scenes as well as the dramatic development
of the characters."

20-Feb-2003 Jedibob- As with any spoiler
information rumored or not you will have to highlite the following text."I
think it´s about time to give you THE scoop of the year. First,
let me say that I work at The Ranch, and I had the chance to look at some
preliminary drawings of the third chapter of the Star Wars saga. "Onto
to the stuff: just like any SW fan knows, Anakin Skywalker falls into
a 'molten pit', is badly burned and then rescued by Palpatine, who molds
him into Darth Vader. "Well. "Anakin DOES fall on a pit of lava,
that´s for sure. But the twist is that the lava is NOT from a new
planet. The ofter- rumoured 'fire planet', that will tie in with the other
'element planets' (Tattoine = Earth, Hoth = Ice, Kamino = Water) is actually
NABOO, that´s being slowly disintegrated by a prototype Death Star
built by Sidious (if you remember, in the end of Episode II, Dooku hands
the plans of the Death Star to Sidious). "That´s it for now.
Use the info as you see fit, but beware. Lucasfilm may threaten to sue
you, and you know exactly what it means. It means that this 'rumour' is
true." Thanks to Coronas Coming Attractions.

14-Feb-2003 Steph138 - Zap2it.com had this
report about the Jedi Outbreak in Britain, "Never say the Brits
don't have a sense of humor. Or perhaps they're just a particularly sacrilegious
lot. More than 390,000 people wrote "Jedi" in the optional religion
slot on the country's 2001 census form, giving the belief system from
the "Star Wars" movies more adherents than Judaism, Buddhism
or the Sikh faith, according to the survey. The wave of write-ins -- Jedi
was not listed as an official religion on the form -- was launched by
an Internet campaign but according to a census spokesperson, it may not
have had the effect its organizers wanted. "'Star Wars' devotees
shared their faith as 'Jedi' in the mistaken belief that if 10,000 did
so, it would be recognized as an official religion," he tells Reuters.
If Jedi were to become an official religion, what would that make George
Lucas -- it's inventor, prophet or godhead? Could movie stubs to the "Star
Wars" films be considered a tax-deductible tithe? Would there be
weekly services, hymns and prayers? Praise the Force and pass the popcorn.
Before would-be converts get too out of hand, here's the official word
from the folks at Lucasfilm. "The 'Star Wars' movies are for fun
and entertainment. It is not our intent for the films to be aligned with
any particular belief system," a spokeswoman tells Zap2it. Hmmm.
Tell that to the people who spent six weeks camped in front of Mann's
Chinese Theatre before the opening of "The Phantom Menace."

10-Feb-2003 Jedibob- Clone Wars animated
series ...to be or not to be? The guys at the Private
Universe Website have posted some juicy tidbits on the subject:
I had an interesting email earlier from someone who seemed to know plenty
on The Clone Wars project. It seems that the cartoon of TCW will be a
26 part series, with 13 episodes out each year till E3 is released, The
cartoon is said to be very much like the Starship Troopers cartoon series
for style rather than the previously rumoured Samurai Jack series. All
the main characters have been voiced by the film actors, and all our favourite
film characters will be making appearences throughout the series.Take
this for what it is until some official news is released, but it sounds
pretty good to me.

08-Feb-2003 Jedibob- I have given myself
time to digest the great experience that I had on the 6th of this month.
Yes I am talking about the ILM tribute (click
here for more )at which George Lucas was present. I finally was able
to meet the man responsible for my great childhood. I can't imagine a
childhood without Star Wars or the influence that those movies have had
in everything from movie making, toys and print. With that in mind I have
to try to accept whatever George decides to do, if he says no regular
editions for the original trilogy so be it. Yes I would love to have them
on a licensed DVD but oh well I will keep my bootlegs. One thing that
I do have a problem with is when he said that we would not see the hyperdrive
star stretch sequence that we loved so much in the original trilogy. I
have high hopes for George, I digested everything he said that night,
I have listened to the recording over and over and I truly believe that
he will make things right with Episode III. I have faith that the man
who gave me such great childhood will make things right for my children.
He did mention that ILM will be working with fire which would make sense
with the volcano/lava scenes. I can't stop trying to think what those
scenes will look like or the anticipation of watching Anakin don that
black costume that I feared as a child. To finally see Obi-Wan and Anakin
confront each other, to see Anakin defeated and Obi-Wan take flight to
save Luke and Leia. Episode III will be great film, well I hope so. Til
then we will continue to speculate and keep you up to date on any new
information that we get.

08-Feb-2003 Jedibob - This in from Yakface,
"For those of you that have never had a chance to experience Star
Wars Weekends, since 2000, it has become an annual event during the month
of May(Fri, Sat & Sun) at the Disney MGM Studios in Orlando, Florida. There
are many great things happening for Star Wars fans during this Most Wonderful
Time of the Year! The event takes place, of course, in the area of the
Star Tours ride. There are Star wars costumed characters for photos, SW
Trivia contests with cool prizes, Jedi Training Academy for the young
Padawans, exclusive Star Wars Weekends merchandise at Tatooine Traders(collectible
pins, etc), and best of all, stars from the films that are available for
question & answer sessions, autographs & photos at scheduled times.
Each weekend offers 2, or sometimes 3 special guests appearing on Fri,
Sat & Sun. Past guests have included: Carrie Fisher, Jeremy Bulloch,
Dave Prowse, Kenny Baker, Peter Mayhew, Ian McCaig, Doug Chiang, Steven
Sansweet, Hugh Quarshie(Capt Panaka), Phil Brown(Uncle Owen), Warwick
Davis, Jake Lloyd(young Anakin), and Mike Quinn. Disney has done this
in past years, but it has only become an annual event since 2000. Unfortunately,
Disney likes to wait until the last minute(April?) to announce who will
be appearing. Last year(2002), they did not have any featured guests due
to schedule conflicts with Celebration 2. My sources tell me that we have
a green light for this year's event, and may even get 5 weekends instead
of 4! Woo Hoo!!!! If you are interested in attending, there are some nice
local folks that have put together a small website for updates and news
on the SWW event, just in case you want to check it out. The dates I have
heard so far for the event this year will be May 15 - June 16. Will post
more info as I get it. I am lucky enough to live right here in Orlando,
and I am a regular visitor for SWW(Star Wars Weekends). It is really a
blast! I will be taking pictures, and covering the event for Yak, in able
to share with those of you unable to attend. Stay tuned...Click

some great material, audio, video and stills, from the evening. We won't
get all the information typed up until tomorrow but here are the audio
recordings so you can hear the Q and A sessions that were held between
each set of clips from the Star Wars series.
Here
is a quick summary. Each set of Q&As followed clips from each movie
in the Star Wars series. Discussion contains info on the following:
why George had to create ILM; what were the most challenging scenes
from each movie, technology wise; No original prints on DVD only special
editions; how does digital technology help film preservation; what new
CGI accomplishments to look for in EP III; how he met Frank Oz and Ben
Burtt; why don't we see the hyperdrive streaking stars like in the first
three; some funny moments about Yoda and the hand up his ass and also
the challenge of having a 2 1/2 foot frog fight a 6 foot vampire; there
will be a lot of fire involved in EP III
and much more!!

Jedibob
was able to score interviews with Lorne Peterson and Steve Gawley, both
ILM artists and one that just happens to be working on Hulk and Pirates
of the Caribbean!!!
| Jedibob
and Lorne Peterson: |
| Doug
Chiang and Ralph Macquarrie have two very distinct artistic styles.
Should we expect to see a mixture of both in EPIII? |
| That's
a very interesting observation, but in reality Doug Chiang headed
a group of artists so it wasn't just Doug like it was when it was
just Ralph. |
| So
will we see a mixture of artistic styles to tie in EpII to EpIV? |
| The
artists are hard at work already and I am sure that they will make
the tie in flawlessly. |
| So
are you actively involved on The Incredible Hulk and Pirates of
the Caribbean? |
| No,
but that man is. (He pointed to Steve Gawley) |
| Mr.
Peterson, thank you for your time and I hope to see you again. |
| |
| Jedibob
and Steve Gawley: |
| Hi
Steve, I am Robert from the IESB, could I have a few quick words
with you? |
| Sure. |
| I
have been told that you are the man behind The Hulk. |
| (Laughing)
Who told you that? |
| (Jedibob
pointed to Lorne Peterson) |
| I
have to be careful what I say, I've got our PR people standing right
next to me. (Ellen Pasternack, ILM PR was
right next to him) |
| The
Superbowl Hulk trailer looked good but is that the final version
of the Hulk? |
| No,
there is still a lot of fine tuning being done to the Hulk. The
fans will be quite happy with the final product. |
| Great,
now going to another project of yours, how's the work on Pirates
of the Caribbean coming along? |
| Ohhh,
can't talk about that one. |
| There
is word out there that the sequence where the curse kicks in and
the pirates become skeletons is just amazing! |
| How
do you know about that already? |
| The
wonderful world wide web. Is it true? |
| (He
shook his head) I really can't talk but it's
going to be great visual effects. |
| They
shook hands and Jedibob thanked Steve for answering questions. |

1-Feb-2003 Steph138 - Some new images from
the Knights of the Old Republic Game are online at the Lucasarts website.
In case you haven't heard here is an overview of the game's premise. "Long
before the Galactic Civil War, an epic drama begins. Engage in this saga
set in the Golden Age of the Republic - over 4,000 years before the first
Star Wars film, when both Jedi and Sith number in the thousands. With
the Galaxy reeling from a recent conflict with the Dark Lords, the ongoing
battle between the Jedi and the Sith rages on. Your actions determine
the outcome of this colossal galactic war - and your destiny as a Jedi.
Immersive, action-packed Star Wars role playing experience with customizable
and evolving playable characters. Your group, comprised of up to 3 characters,
can include humans, droids, Twi'leks, Wookiees and more. Fast paced mini-games
-- such as racing swoop bikes, or manning turret guns. Journey spans ten
different worlds ranging from the familiar to the new. Locations include
Tatooine, Sith world of Korriban, Jedi Academy on Dantooine and Wookiee
homeworld of Kashyyyk." Now for the really cool part check out
this "Sith Trooper".

Here
is this character's official description:
"Sith Trooper While the majority of the battalions now under Sith
command are comprised of traitorous Republic forces, they are far from
hodge-podges of disorganized troops. Only the strong are granted acceptance
into the ranks of the Sith army; those judged too weak to be of use are
put to an ignoble end. Traitors may be welcomed into the ranks, but a
level of fear is quickly established to make certain they are not so quick
to change sides again. Functionally, the armor of the Sith trooper is
just as protective as most Republic equipment, but it has also been carefully
designed to inspire dread. Armor plating is presented more obviously,
making it appear more imposing, and the features of the wearer are completely
obscured to make them a faceless inhuman entity. A Sith trooper is perceived
as an extension of the Sith, and even in close combat an opponent sees
only the cold faceplate of the helmet, never the soldier inside."
Pretty friggin' cool people!!

27-Jan-2003 Jedibob - The
Force.net has just posted some very interesting Episode III spoiler tidbits
that we thought you might find interesting. You must highlight
to read the following. I originally wanted to
call this SPY REPORT Fire and Ice but thought for the 11 non-spoiler people
that come here I thought I should play nice. :) Cold Day in Hell would
have also been appropriate, though the language a bit strong for the front
page. But hey, you came here for spoilers and that's what we're going
to give you.
So they liked the lava planet stuff last week,
huh? We can't stop talking about it either. Should I mention the few other
tidbits going on right now as well? Set construction is moving along,
with plans being drawn up for several sets LFL is still not sure they
actually need to be built. Talk about a last minute production, they must
be really dragging their feet over there.
Tatooine features in several scenes as is widely known, one of the guys
was telling us about a sand set at FOX. But here's the real kicker: one
of the ideas that is seriously being developed has to do with snow. That's
right: snow. Not sure if it is a whole planet of snow or ice, but there
is definitely a chance something cold is going to happen in Episode III.
Now here's some speculation on my (Josh) part:
The lava planet just isn't intense enough alone, and so George was looking
for a way to make it over the top. So there's the blasting heat of the
lava planet or volcano, yet you can see the breath of those with the lightsabers
from the cold as they slash at each other through the lightly-falling
snow. The snow instantly melts as it hits the ground, creating a sizzle
as the two combatants fight.
This could be really cool, and have fun speculating yourselves until we
hear if the snow even makes it into the final production this summer.
Where else could snow fit in to Episode III?

25-Jan-2003 Steph138 - We here at IESB would
love to start a "Fan Fiction" section if we can get enough contributors.
Stonewall sent in this AWESOME story about
how he thinks things should...on second thought just read it...I don't
want to spoil the fun or the ending!!!
The cave was dark
and with the naked eye there was little to see. Master Windu reached out
with the Force to find his way through the catacomb. He comes to a clearing
where he is able to see a silhouette. "I knew I would find you here"
Mace said while keeping his eyes focused on the shadow.
"There is
nothing you can do to stop it now," the shadow said as it moved into
the faint light. It was Anakin, or what used to be of him, he now calls
himself Vader.
Suddenly the red
glow of a Sith lords saber comes humming to life, and a yell from the
dark lord as he lunges at the Jedi master. Sparks fly as the blade clashes
with a loud crash as it hits the purple electrum saber.
"I don't think
so," Mace says. Suddenly the two warriors begin to fight with the
grace of the Jedi arts of old. The fight seems to last forever. Back and
forth, when it seemed the dark lord had the upper hand, the wise master
would put him in his place.
"It ends now!!!",
Mace yells, and with one swipe knocks the red saber from the robotic hand
of the man formerly known as Anakin. Mace then kicks the former Jedi down.
"I am ending this now, I have to destroy you, something Obi-Wan could
not do." Mace then raises his blade, and with two hands is ready
to come down with the death blow.
BLAM
A shot explodes
throughout the cave. Pain runs through the body of the great Mace Windu.
The pain is so intense that even Vader could feel it, and he screams.
The mighty Jedi
falls to the ground, Vader clears his eyes and focuses on an image he
sees on the other side of the cave. An image he hasn't seen since he was
on Coruscunt with Obi-Wan, and they were interrogating Zam Wessel.
The image comes
closer to Vader, the shadow then steps toward the fallen Jedi's body as
if to see if he was really dead. "That is for my father," Boba
says with a stern voice. As Boba leans down to get a closer look, Mace
vanishes and becomes one with the Force.
Vader approaches
Boba Fett, and says, "Thank you my mandalorian friend. Maybe someday
we will work together." "Yeah, if the money is right,"
Fett says as he blasts off toward the darkness of the cave. Vader looks
up and realizes that if it were not for Fett, he might of perished, and
the Jedi would have prevented Lord Sidious from his ultimate plan for
revenge.

25-Jan-2003 Steph138 and
Jedibob - Rumors and speculations are running as rampid as a wild
wampa through the Star Wars Universe as of late. News of Episode III's
production start date has been released and is scheduled for late June.
Over at the Coming Attractions website they believe they even know the
title for this latest installment, "They
say that Lucas is going to call the movie Star Wars Episode III: Circle
of the Force. After surviving through The Phantom Menace and Attack of
the Clones, at this point anything's possible." Our
very own Stonewall has his own opinion of
what the movie title should be and it makes COMPLETE sense, I don't know
why we didn't come up with this before...click
here to read Stonewall's theory. Here is what Harry over at AICN had
to say, "First the start date is late-June of this year and
of course will be being shot digitally again. The synopsis tells us that
the film begins a few years after the end of ATTACK OF THE CLONES and
is near the conclusion of the "Clone Wars" themselves. Hayden
and Natalie are still hitched and Ewan is still at work trying to get
to the bottom of who ordered the clones made and if there is a connection
to the mysterious Sith. Apparently, Count Dooku (YEAH! SARUMAN IS BACK)
is still f***ing the galaxy up hardcore by waging his war all over the
Republic, thus scaring and terrorizing the galaxy. This war between the
Confederacy of Independent Systems and the Republic has left a wave of
destruction that is literally ripping the galaxy asunder leaving destroyed
and devastated planets and lives in its wake. Palpatine, in order to restore
order where there is only chaos, creates a New Order called the Galactic
Empire in the aftermath of all this destruction, to heal what has been
broken. While that little development happens, Padme squeezes out twins
called, shockingly enough, Luke and Leia. However, the infants are separated
to be brought up unaware of each other's existence. (YEAH I REALLY WANT
TO KNOW WHY TOO!) It seems that Anakin is continuing his descent into
darkness by joining Palpatine's side through all of this, where Palpatine
can further seduce and bring him to the dark side. (Does Anakin become
Palpatine's Jedi Bodyguard?) Ol Kenobi, of course tries to turn Anakin
back onto the path of the good guys. The Jedi Order gets destroyed leaving
only OB1 and Yoda - and from the look of this thing, the last sentence
is: "... a new reign of terror is ushered in with the Empire's rule
and Palpatine's move to declare himself the Emperor." Well, HOT DAMN!
That sounds like a movie. Folks in Sydney... Keep your eyes and ears open.
Whisper and share what you hear. We need you guys and gals to be tricksy
we do, we want to know how things are going. God I want this film to rule
all." Yes Harry we agree, we all want this film to rule all
as well...maybe if George (Jorge as I like to call him) would release
the reigns a little and let someone else direct that could really happen
but hey that's my opinion! This is a perfect lead in to start a fan opinion
poll who do you think would be the best director for Episode III, we all
know it's going to be Jorge but if you had your choice who would it be???

A new planet for Episode III ? Only
if George stays with the original story that has been around for over
25 years. We all know about the Duel that is supposed to take place in
EPIII between Anakin & Obi-Wan, well this story posted on TheForce.net
is definately firing up the rumor mill. Again it is only a rumor but possible
spoiler, you still need to
highlight the following to
read: THEFORCE.Net : I was talking to
one of the guys who knows what is going on over there and of course the
final Star Wars movie had to come up. And while not much was revealed
in our conversation, I can say that there are currently people working
on Episode 3 at Fox Studios Australia. The real news? Lucas wants a Lava
Planet in Episode III - or at least a partial set to be constructed. Tie
this information in with the fact that LucasFilm commissioned someone
to film that volcanic eruption in Italy a couple of months ago and you've
got something quite interesting I think. The guy confirmed a return to
Tatooine as expected and then I missed the last part - I'll try to find
more and get back with you.

19-Jan-2003 21:36 FINAL UPDATE
- Kyoty - Star
Wars 7-9: The "Star Wars" sequel trilogy rumour explosion looks
thankfully to have been contained. Not only has the original report
been fixed up over at the Fox News site (albeit almost 48 hours later),
but a Lucasfilm rep gave an official comment to TheForce.Net about the
issue: "As many fans are already aware of, there are going to be
just 6 movies. Unfortunately, George was misquoted in the interview about
number of movies in the Star Wars series. Currently LucasFilm is in preproduction
for Episode 3, the last Star Wars movie". Thanks to 'Anthony', 'Jarrod',
'Tizzel Bizzel', 'John', 'Jean-Luc', 'Jon Movie Man', 'Steven', 'Neil'
& 'Aurélien'" Here is the original post - UPDATE
- Jedibob- George Lucas speaks out on Episode III,
and George is good friends with Peter Jackson!? Fox News has the following
interview: Star
Wars director George Lucas says he's got plans for his post-Star Wars
career. After thirty years of being tied up with the phenomenally successful
series, Lucas will set off to make "more personal" films after
2005. "I'm going to go from complete success to complete failure,"
he told me, without a wink or a smile. On the contrary, Lucas said he
anticipates utter rejection from his fans once Star Wars concludes. "I'm
going to make a bunch of movies like THX," he said, referring to
his earliest effort. "And if people don't like it, too bad."Lucas
did tell me that of the current movies in release, he loved Martin Scorsese's
Gangs of New York. "We showed a print of it at the Skywalker Ranch,"
he said. "I was amazed by what he did with it, and where he went.
It was terrific."But Lucas' own career is clearly on his mind these
days. He's busy working on Chapter III of Star Wars, which links Attack
of the Clones to the original Star Wars. "I know what I want to do,"
he said, "it was mapped out from my original writing for 30 years.
But still you have these two pieces Clones and Chapter IV
and you have to make them fit together. You're going to see a lot about
Anakin and Luke and Princess Leia's mother, all the adults. And of course
Luke and Leia will be infants in it. "I asked him whether he cared
about the criticism of Hayden Christensen, who played Anakin in Clones.
"Not a bit," Lucas said, "this is a talented kid. Years
from now people are going to say, was he always so good, and look at Clones,
and realize yes."Lucas also told me that he and Lord of the Rings
director Peter Jackson have become good friends, commiserating with each
other in Australia and New Zealand on their shoots about making their
two series. "Essentially, Peter is making three three-hour movies
out of one book," Lucas said. "And I'm making nine two-hour
movies from one book." Of course, Lucas wrote his own book, but
the mythology harkens back to Lord of the Rings. "We discuss it a
lot because they are similar in nature," said Lucas.I must say that
I've met a few of my heroes in my lifetime and some of them have been
disappointments. But George Lucas turned out to be refreshingly candid
and enormously pleasant. We don't seem him in New York very often; I hope
once Star Wars wraps for good he'll come here more often. And so, yes,
"The Force" is with him! Excuse me???what
did he just say?? Nine two hour movies??? George what is the deal,
you did this to us the last time you finished a trilogy and now you are
baiting us with the thought of 3 more movies, that may I say, every
true fan knows needs to be made. Guess we will just have to wait and see!

01/17/03 Jedibob-Episode III
production designer headed to the land down under.Star
Wars prequel trilogy Production Designer Gavin Bocquet, who helped create
the exotic world of xXx since wrapping Episode II, was at Skywalker Ranch
last week to meet with George Lucas one last time before leaving for Australia
to ramp up set production on Episode III. "We're in a good position
now," Bocquet said in good humor before his meeting, "but if
we're in the same spot in six or seven weeks we might be a little bit
nervous. We're all pretty relaxed about it at the moment." Producer
Rick McCallum and returning Supervising Art Director Peter Russell were
already at Fox Studios Sydney working on preparation. "There's a
local crew but it's pretty minimal," reports Bocquet. "We've
probably got about two or three weeks of just prep, but then we would
hope to be pretty much semi full-on come February. We're about six months,
really, until we plan to start shooting." Bocquet
cites the main difference for his work on Episode III to be time. "The
time scale is a little different. Certainly from Phantom to Clones, the
schedule for prep work has gotten smaller each time. It'll be a little
smaller this time," Bocquet smiles. Without
a final script in hand, the production team has learned to adapt to Lucas'
quick-paced style. "We try to be in a position where we can really
move when called upon and be ready to go quickly." Bocquet cites
a new ship for one of the film's heroes as an example. "We still
don't know if we're going to need a full-size cockpit or a full-size ship,
but we're doing all the technical drawings for it. Even if we don't build
it, then that information is ready for ILM to have and use." Despite
advances in digital sets, he expects the total set effort to be roughly
the same for the final Star Wars chapter. "In the end we spent about
the same on Phantom and on Clones, so that if you think about what you
spend: nails and wood and people, then obviously we ended up building
more or less the same. We ended up with 64 sets on Clones or parts of
sets, and 53 on Phantom. They might have been smaller bits or bigger bits
in quantity, but we spent the same. So while there were fewer in quantity
on Phantom, they were a bit bigger. It's a pure guess on this one. "After
meeting with Lucas, Bocquet emerged with enthusiasm, armed with a long
list of needed environments and any worries about having enough work to
keep busy left well behind him. "I think it's going to be a wonderful
mixture of old and new," he said.

1/16/03 Starcat- George lays down the law-
Star Wars creator George Lucas told Fox News' Web site that he's mapped
out the storyline for his upcoming third prequel.(see
previous post) .
Once Lucas wraps the upcoming Episode III after 2005, "I'm going
to make a bunch of movies like [THX 1138],"said Lucas referring to
his 1971 SF movie. "And if people don't like it, too bad. There will
be no Schindler's List or Saving Private Ryan for me. There won't be any
big dramas or Oscars."

Sydney gears up for Star Wars. Sydney
is already the site for much of pre-production on the third and final
Star Wars prequel. "We have a costume department [starting] in Sydney,
and then the production art department moves to Sydney in the beginning
of 2003. So all systems are go," Star Wars: Episode III producer
Rick McCallum has told Star Wars Insider magazine. "We have a production
art department in London that's started, feverishly." Rick also said
the conceptual art department in California was in full swing, with about
20 artists already working on Episode III. As of November, 1500 illustrations
had been created, and will reach 10,000 before shooting begins. "We
start our basic construction of the things that are needed in each department
[in Australia]," McCallum said."We'll have our new set director
Richard Roberts come into Sydney to scout locations and service companies.
This is just the beginning of the preproduction on the film."

A Working Title. Sounds So Cool. I've been sleeping on the sidewalk in
front of my house. Just warming up ya know. TFN Reports. "Rumblings
around the Episode III world continue to be timid without a script, but
tonight we've got our hands on one of the first scoops of the final Star
Wars movies ever made. Apparently, Jar Jar's Great Adventure is about
to continue towards the dark side: Keep your eyes open throughout Episode
II, there's deliberate story linkages that will be used in Episode 3.
But here's the stuff I promised you: I was told some of the working title
names for Episode 3 that are currently doing the rounds at JAK Productions
and Lucasfilm. The most popular one right now is a title with the word
'circle' in it, as in something Vader said
'the circle is complete.'"
Sounds excellent!
