It's no secret that Star Trek Enterprise has struggled through it's previous three seasons, this makes it all more important to open Season Four with a bang. Let me tell you, they did it. Storm Front is easily one of the best Enterprise episodes thus far. A noticeable visual change is the digital format that Enterprise has converted to. Shot entirely with Sony’s HDW-F900 Digital Camcorders and CineAlta 24P technology, Storm Front looks amazing.

For all the tech savvy people out there this is the same technology that George Lucas and Robert Rodriguez are using on their feature films Revenge of the Sith and Sin City.

Using this technology, this first episode of the new season was shot in a total of 7 days but has the same look and feel of a feature film. Moving to this format, the editing process has become much simpler and time efficient. For the finished product, it gives a glossy and highly detailed picture.

Now on to the good stuff, the story arc. With Manny Coto now at the helm, Enterprise is headed in a new direction but into familiar territory. This episode picks up exactly where the Season three finale left off.

The shuttle pod is headed to San Francisco (Starfleet) when it encounters WWII era aircraft and they begin to be fired upon. Archer, presumed dead by the Enterprise crew, is in the hands of the Nazi's with a twist. The Nazi's are being coerced into taking over the world by a new species of aliens that are involved in the temporal cold war.

With out giving away too many spoilers Archer finds himself in occupied New York, yes as in German occupied north eastern United States. The Captain after escaping his German/Alien captors is searching for a way to contact Enterprise. He is helped by the "resistance" and along the way bumps into a few more Aliens and Nazis.  There are quite a few surprises including a Nazi decorated White House that looks incredible on the new digital format. The colors are amazing and the action is intense.

Star Trek Enterprise Season 4 Premiere Episode is all that a Trek episode should be. I can't wait to see the conclusion and the rest of the season.
