Robert Picardo

Robert Picardo has a very impressive resume with over 60 projects under his belt, but to Sci-Fi fans he will always be the "Doctor" or if you prefer the "EMH". It is not the first time that he portrays a doctor on TV. His first doctor role came in "China Beach" were he played Dr. Dick Richard.

China Beach depicted issues familiar from dark war comedies like M*A*S*H and revisionist allegories like Apocalypse Now. Story lines explored the corruption or ineptitude of military authority; soldiers' inability to function in "normal" interaction; the medical staff's necessary posture of mordant irony; or the war's sudden curtailment of friendship or romance.

Robert has crossed over to the Stargate universe playing Richard Woolsey. A very interesting character in which he works for the N.I.D and responsible for an investigation that just might shut down the SGC. At the end he makes a very hard decision to do the right thing and decide to investigate his own boss and the N.I.D.

Picardo was able to tell the IESB that he is currently in negotiations to return to Stargate SG-1 to reprise his role. He does not know if his character will also crossover to the new series Stargate: Atlantis, which airs this summer on the Sci-Fi channel. However his actions on SG-1 might have repercussions on the Atlantis spin-off.

Robert Picardo revisits his beloved character of "The Doctor" on the new Paramount Parks attraction Star Trek : The Borg Invasion 4-D located at the Las Vegas Hilton.
