Exclusive video interviews with Morena Baccarin and Summer Glau!

Author: Robert Sanchez

Serenity is less than two months away before it's release and the movie's publicity machine has begun.

Universal held the premiere of The Skeleton Key at the Universal City Walk on Tuesday August 2nd and a few stars from Joss Whedon's Serenity showed up to talk about the film and upcoming projects.

First let me say that when I initially read the tip sheet I was a bit excited that James Marsden was on the guest list. I wondered if he was really going to show up considering that principal photography for X-Men 3 is to start this week. Should've of known better, no show for James Marsden. Good news for Serenity fans is that Summer Glau and Morena Baccarin did show up and did give us a few minutes of their time.

Let me start off with first saying that Summer and Morena are drop dead gorgeous. It's not our first interviews with either one of these two ladies and we have done our fair share of coverage on Serenity but nonetheless we couldn't pass up on the chance to talk to these two lovely ladies.

Both girls did tell us that they have not yet seen the final version of the film but what they have seen has left them breathless. Summer lets us in on her experience when she auditioned for the role of Kitty Pryde in X-Men 3. She says that she called Joss right after her audition and mentioned the script/lines she read, according to Summer Joss recognized the dialogue because it was right out of the Astonishing X-Men comic books. Summer also hopes to reprise her role in USA Network's The 4400 where she plays a returnee with a slight problem of Schizophrenia.

To our surprise Morena let us in a little secret, she also auditioned for a role on X-Men 3. She couldn't easily recall the name of the character but the role was of a female gang member. What about her hopes of playing Wonder Woman? She would love to do it but there has been no official talks about it. She jokingly reminds me that I started that rumor at comic con. But as I reminded her it was Joss himself that fueled the rumors during Wizard World L.A. when he teased the fans on where he would find an olive skinned beauty to play the heroine and look at her way and smiled.

Synopsis: Joss Whedon- the Oscar®- and Emmy-nominated writer/director responsible for the worldwide television phenomena of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel-now applies his trademark compassion and wit to a small band of galactic outcasts 500 years in the future in his feature film directorial debut, Serenity. The film centers around Captain Malcolm Reynolds, a hardened veteran (on the losing side) of a galactic civil war, who now ekes out a living pulling off small crimes and transport-for-hire aboard his ship, Serenity. He leads a small, eclectic crew who are the closest thing he has left to family - squabbling, insubordinate and undyingly loyal. When Mal takes on two new passengers-a young doctor and his unstable, telepathic sister-he gets much more than he bargained for. The pair are fugitives from the coalition dominating the universe, who will stop at nothing to reclaim the girl. The crew that was once used to skimming the outskirts of the galaxy unnoticed find themselves caught between the unstoppable military force of the Universal Alliance and the horrific, cannibalistic fury of the Reavers, savages who roam the very edge of space. Hunted by vastly different enemies, they begin to discover that the greatest danger to them may be on board Serenity herself.
