Johnny Depp becomes a Part of History

Author/Photographer: Richard Chavez

Johnny Depp became a part of Hollywood history Friday when his hands and feet were forever immortalized in cement outside of Grauman's Chinese Theater.

Now, not only does he have a star on the Walk of Fame, he now has his hands and feet in cement. Johnny Depp has earned this opportunity due to his many highly acclaimed movie roles.

His first big screen role as Glen Lantz, boyfriend to Nancy Thompson (played by Heather Langenkamp) in A Nightmare On Elm Street released in 1984. Then playing Officer Tom Hanson on the television series 21 Jump Street. The series lasted for four years, from 1987 to 1991. Then in 1990 a director by the name of Tim Burton cast him in his ground breaking leading role as Edward Scissorhands. Later he took on roles like Constable Ichabod Crane in Sleepy Hollow, the pirate we all love, Captain Jack Sparrow, our favorite chocolateer, Willy Wonka, soon to be a new favorite, Victor Von Dort in The Corpse Bride.

The Corpse Bride will be Johnny Depp's fifth time working with Director Tim Burton. It is without a doubt that Johnny Depp has earned this great achievement. Now he is immortalized with the 200+ other celebrities that have also earned the honor, like Harrison Ford, R2-D2, C-3PO, and Darth Vader (alright, I'm just trying to be funny), Marilyn Monroe, and the list just keeps going. Congratulations Johnny, you deserve it!
